Dear travel buddy -
If you receive this message, it is because you subscribe to our Globetrotting Booklovers blog! Thanks so much for coming along on our journeys as we travel the world. I started this blog about three years ago with 19 posts about our three months driving around Australia in a motor home.
Since then, every single Sunday morning, a new story was posted. We have been so incredibly lucky with the opportunities to travel and meet people in over 60 countries. Sometimes people ask us if we have a favourite… But we don’t, really. How can you compare meeting blue-footed boobies on the Galapagos Islands to meeting a camel in the Gobi Desert or a lion up close in Tanzania?! This whole world with its variety of nature and cultures is awesome.
We love traveling with this blog in mind since it makes us more aware, more conscious of what we do and how we do it, so that we can share the stories, the photos and practical information with you.
So if you receive our weekly blog, don’t forget to return to the actual site to check blog posts anytime. You can type a country or city in the search button to read our posts about it (note that the index on the right only shows a limited number, it does not go all the way down to Zambia!). Whether you plan a trip on a supply ship off Vancouver Island or on a cruise ship through the Panama Canal, you can find it here. There are many hikes that you will take in our footsteps: from the Camino de Santiago to easier long distance hikes in The Netherlands.
Also, return often to the BOOKS page because I am constantly adding new titles to this list. It also includes awesome travel stories about countries we have not (yet) visited. I loved finding books about Israel like The Lemon Tree. Or the biography of Queen Noor of Jordan.
And if you are looking to support, donate or volunteer with any book/library related NGO’s, please click Literacy Projects to find out more about supporting a floating school in Cambodia or working with The Book Bus in Zambia!
And while Covid put a damper on travel for a while, it allowed me to catch up to many stories I wanted to share. Now we are back to exploring but I find that it will be better to slow to one or two posts a month. So this message is to tell you that you won’t be receiving a weekly story anymore. They will still come your way but not every week. Dó stay tuned for fun adventures coming up this year as we hope to travel to far flung places like Yellowstone and Portugal.
Thanks for coming along! We’re packing our backpack for the next trip!
